Lameness Evaluation and Treatment
SRE has over 35 years experience in lameness diagnosis and treatment. Once a lameness has been isolated, he will go to work using the very latest in technology and medicine. Some of the modalities used in diagnostic/treatment plans include digital radiology, ultrasound, cryotherapy and surgery, arthrocentesis (joint injections), chiropractic, shockwave therapy (lithotripsy), Game Ready (ice compression therapy), and nutritional, herbal and conventional medicines and supplements.
Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy is a treatment used to treat orthopedic problems and can promote bone growth and healing, as well as minimize pain. Shockwave therapy uses high energy acoustic pulses (sound waves) that have tha bility to travel readily through soft tissue to affect hard material and tissues such as mineralized deposits or bone. This process is most commonly used to treat ligament problems, but it can be used to treat arthritis, sore backs, bowed tendons, ringbone, splints, stress fractures and joint diseases.
Game Ready Equine
Game Ready Equine is an advanced professional cooling and intermittent compression therapy that can cut healing time in half. This is accomplished by delivering dry cold and active compression with tremendous reduction of soft tissue swelling. Game Ready Equine can be used to aid in healing for bowed tendons, wounds, joint problems, muscle tears, ligament strains and also after sporting events to facilitate a quicker recovery.
IMAGING
Digital Radiology
Digital Radiology gives us image quality and analysis far beyond what is capable using plain film processing x-rays. Images can be digitally enlarged and/or enhanced for a closer more precise view. This is especially important because images can be taken and viewed in less than 30 seconds. They can also be copied onto a CD for owners to view images on their computer. This is a life-saver during pre-purchase exams and referrals.
Ultrasonography
SRE offers diagnostic ultrasonography which is invaluable for assessment of soft tissue injuries not readily seen in digital radiography. Ultrasonography is also used for reproductive management.
Video Endoscopy
Endoscopy uses a long narrow endoscope which houses a fiber-optic camera that can be used to remotely visualize on a tv monitor structures of the upper airway, gutteral pouches, stomach and esophagus. It is most often used to diagnose causes of respiratory noise and nasal discharge.
